Question by A Black Man’s Holy Grail: What are the hunting arrows called that expand into many blades after firing?
there are just a few “blades,” if that’s what there are called, that flip out after firing to get a more lethal hit. I just need to know the names of them. thanks

Spring-loaded barbed arrows? Something like these: http://www.newarchery.com/products/1-1/broadheads/bloodrunner.html

  • Expanding broadhead

  • Expandable or expanding. They don’t end up with more blades than when they started, they’re just tucked in to give a more field point like tip than a full broadhead. It reduces wind planing for the most part.

  • The most common name for them Is “mechanical” broad head. They expand out when contact is made with and animal or object.

Here are a few brands. Look them up for additional information on them.

    Rage
    Rocky Mountain Snyper
    Rocket Steelhead
    Nap Bloodrunner
    Nap Spitfire
    Grim Reaper
    Wasp Jackhammer
    G5 Tekan

  • Expanding/expandable broadheads.

I don’t recommend using them unless your draw is at least 55 lbs, my grandpa shot a deer with his
45 lb compound last year and it failed to expand. I prefer a fixed broadhead.
